 This is always a good way to learn skills to become a better angler. There will be plenty of instructors on hand to teach you techniques that will help you to become a better steelheader. You will meet at the pavilion in the morning and learn about spin and fly fishing techniques to catch the big ones. Next you will go the river with instructors who will help you tune your skills.

OCBS Fly Casting Clinic
Memorial Day Weekend
 Jeff Liskey is planning a fly casting clinic covering both one and two handed fly rod to be held on Memorial Day Weekend.  The Cost will be $20.00 for OCBS members including a picnic Lunch.

Kids Fishing Derby
Cleveland Metroparks Kids Fishing Derby at Wallace Lake will be held May 5th and at Ledge Lake will be held May 19. If you can spare a few hours helping the kids please contact Mike Durkalec for details.

March 29, 2007 Westside Membership Meeting @ Ampol Club

This month's speaker Craig Lewis lives in  Sheffield, Ohio and is the owner of Erie Outfitters located at 5404 Lake Rd  -  Sheffield Lake, OH 44054  -  Phone: (440) 949-8934. Craig fishes all species of lake fish as well as steelhead.  Even though he loves Center Pinning his is proficient fly, spinning and bait caster fisherman as well. Craig fished a few Pro bass tournaments last season and was very successful for his first year.

Craig has fished with Matt Straw writer and film producers with In-Fisherman. Together they have filmed many public Ohio locations available to fisherman including: Metro Parks, Rocky, Vermillion, Grand River and Ashtabula. Craig has also worked with Steve Quinn of In-Fisherman on articles for perch, crappie and smallmouth. His latest articles have been in Great Lakes Angler focusing on centre-pin fishing and Great Lakes Steelhead. He has been involved with local pin fisherman as well as other great fisherman from New York, Michigan, Canada, Wisconsin on a project with Gary Shaffer and the Loomis staff designing a new line of centerpin rods for the Great Lakes.

OCBS Fly Tournament Series Spring Results and Final Results

 This event present anglers with the same challenges all the previous tournaments, high dirty water. Most anglers ended up in ditches as the water was too high and off color in the main river systems. Sixteen anglers caught several fish that measured and many anglers caught smaller fish that did not meet the 24 inch minimum length. 

This spring event was won by John Marics with fish at 62 inches. Nate Williams also had another great day turning in 61.025 inches helping him to win the overall. Congradulations to both John and Nate.

Ken Mantkowski Handicapped Fishing Derby

The annual Ken Mantkowski Handicapped Fishing Derby is to be held on Sat May 19, 2007, at Ledge Lake from 8:00am-1:00pm. Anyone that can help out please show up at the scheduled time. If you have never participated in this event you may find it very self-rewarding. Please plan on attending. Lunch will be provided.
